Meghana Murthy
My name is Meghana Hosahalli Shivananda Murthy, a Ph.D. candidate in Biochemistry at Arizona State University, originally from Bangalore, India. I hold a Bachelor’s in Biotechnology Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), India, and a Master’s in Biomedical and Bioengineering from The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), shaping my interdisciplinary approach to scientific research.
My research explores insulin signaling pathways in corals and humans, developing therapeutic strategies for coral bleaching. By bridging marine biology, molecular biology, and medical science, my work advances both environmental and human health. With expertise in cellular and molecular biology, mass spectrometry, and protein biology I integrate multiple disciplines to tackle complex global challenges.
Beyond the lab, I am a dedicated advocate for climate action, diversity, and inclusivity. I engage in STEM policy-making, promoting gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights, and sustainability. Post-graduation, I aim to continue research, policy advocacy, and outreach, fostering a more inclusive and impactful scientific community.
